Old memories resurfaced when I read your delightful work; I worked as a Data Miner ( do these jobs still exist ?) in a Major Financial Institution Debt Markets many years before adopting the independent creative life style - which I now know is the best way to live.
I can have a guess at what happened to Matt.
Perhaps it telepathic projection like quantum particles that communicate at vast distances in these superimposed states. It must be love that connects, the missing link. When we are part of the system as an actor observing an event, the waveform collapses into one reality from the many. The one reality where love is defined.
Matt simply outlived his usefulness; he overachieved and was packaged and delivered to another under performing zone to be more optimal. Nothing is ever wasted as code can be disassembled into another class of code into an actor construct to perform any new job the Network wants.
The Network can decide this time for Matt to fall in love with another construct, isolated code is not efficient it has to be part of something big. Navigating the Network is better when you have a companion to share the journey.
